MILAN – Predictions held true at the Gran Premio of the Jockey Club at the Milan Racetrack: Dylan Mouth won – in the first win of his career in a Group 1 race – beating a surprising Duca di Mantova who remained head to head with the Derbywinner up to 100 meters from the finish line. Third place went to Biz The Nurse, who ended at 14 lengths from the second place horse.

At the opening of the cages, Wild Wolf jumped forward and set the pace until the beginning of the final stretch. At this point, Dylan Mouth launched his attack, followed by Biz The Nurse and Duca di Mantova, who until such point remained in the background. Biz The Nurse left the race almost right away while Duca Di Mantova attempted until the very end to rob first place from Dylan Mouth, who in the end proved his clearly superior quality.

For Dylan Mouth, this is the seventh win out of seven races run in Italy, all with Fabio Branca in the saddle: for the Effevi stable of Felice Villa, it is the umpteenth laurel worn by a thoroughbred that has aleady won the Derby d’Italia, the Premio Federico Tesio, as well as another four races among the listed, conditioned and for novices.

At the beginning of the afternoon, Brog Deas won the Steeplechase Race (Gran Corsa Siepi di Milano): it was the most important race of the year for the Milanese Racetrack, and Brog Deas dominated the entire race, forcing the group to keeep a fast pace in the first part of the race and controlling his position in the second part after a slight hesitation at a hurdle. During the conclusion phase, the jockey Jan Faltejsek once again pushed Brog Deas to pick up the pace, but only Sol Invictus tried to keep up with the leader, but without ever causing much concern.

At the end of the race, Brog Deas’ owners received an invitation by a Japanese organizer of hurdle races to have the horse take part in a race in Japan, which invitation was received with great pleasure and will now be assessed by the owners together with the trainer.

Over 7,500 spectators were in attendance: the guests included the actor Maurizio Mattioli, an owner of race horses but today a “mere” fan of Biz The Nurse (who runs for the Roman stable Aleali), the mayor of Opera, Ettore Fusco, and the former champion José Altafini, who is now a television commentator. The prize for the most elegant woman – the dress code required a gold colored garment – was awarded to Ms. Fulvia Savorana Bangelisti, the sole director of the company Australia Srl, the owner of the horse Frolon, who took part in the Steeplechase Rate (Gran Corsa Siepi di Milano).
